NBA Player Prop — Karl-Anthony Towns
Karl-Anthony Towns has quietly become a major playmaker for the Knicks lately, recording 6+ assists in six straight games. With Philly focusing heavily on stopping him inside, I expect KAT to keep finding open teammates again tonight.
Match: Philadelphia 76ers v New York Knicks
League / Competition: NBA
Our Pick: Towns over 5.5 assist
Odds: 2.14
Market: Player Props
Analyst Confidence: 3/5
I really like this player prop tonight.
The way this series is being officiated is forcing Towns to play more through passing instead of just trying to bully his way inside every possession. Philly has been making life difficult in the paint, and KAT has adjusted well by becoming more of a playmaker.
He’s now recorded 6+ assists in 6 straight games, and the Knicks keep winning when he plays that role. That’s not a coincidence. When Towns moves the ball early and lets the shooters work, New York’s offense looks much more dangerous.
Another thing I like here is that the Knicks are actually hitting their shots this postseason. Assists only cash if teammates finish plays, and New York has been one of the better shooting teams in the playoffs so far.
I expect Philly to keep collapsing on Towns whenever he gets touches inside, which should open up plenty of kick-out opportunities again tonight.
